LARP: Live-action roleplaying. Think of it as character acting, with you being able to create the character you will be playing.
White Wolf: The publisher of books for the rule system that we currently use.
World of Darkness: Both the setting and the name of the series of rulebooks for which we use. Mind's Eye Theater is the series of books dedicated for LARP. When used to describe the setting, the World of Darkness is darker and more macabre. The police are corrupt, the streets are more littered, and the people are colder and more apathetic. The world is by nature more dangerous than the one we currently live in. Mind's Eye Theater: Series of books dedicated specifically to LARP.
Character: Term used to describe the fictional persona played during a LARP. The character includes game-related statistics as well as it's personal information, like name and personality.
Character Sheet: A copy of the game-related statistics for the character. The player keeps a copy and the storyteller keeps a copy.
In-character: Also "in-game". Terms describing when a player is currently portraying their character.
Out-of-character: Also "out-of-game". Terms describing when a player is not currently portraying their character.
Metagaming: A form of cheating which happens when information gathered by the player, but not the character, is used to further the interests of said character.
Storyteller: Person responsible for organising all story aspects of the LARP game. Includes playing NPCs, setting descriptions, and experience expenditures. The Storyteller has final say on game-related aspects of the LARP.
Coordinator: Person or people responsible for organizing all non-story aspects of the LARP game. Includes acquiring and maintaining game site, and recording Prestige. The Coordinator has final say on non-game aspects of the LARP.
Narrator: Person or people who help the Storyteller with story aspects of the game. Includes playing NPCs and adjudicating rolls.
Player: Someone who plays a character in the LARP game.
Game, the: Time set aside to play the LARP game, where all the players can portray their characters.
Downtime: Time set aside to handle between-game actions.
